  • cut out the fabric;
  • and sew your garment.

You'll learn to do things right, from the start. But you'll also learn exactly where your choices start.

Because even when you're a beginner: when it's your project, you're the designer.

4000-Year-Old Fashion: The Bog Coat

Saturday, March 20, 2-3 pm
FREE! Vicki Braun

What’s really old is new again!

It comes from the mummified man discovered in a peat bog in Europe, and the construction is amazingly simple. That makes it a great canvas to show off wonderful fabric, or even wearable art – so now it's the latest thing. Vicki's got some great 2010 examples – come see!

Applique Techniques

Monday, April 5, 6-9 pm
Tuesday, April 6, 10 am-1 pm
$40 (includes kit), Cindy Schaper

Turn that plain t-shirt into a designer garment, thanks to the magic of appliques!

There's an amazing range of sizes and varieties – from simple ones you make yourself to elaborate ones we have here in the store. Plus, there's more than one way to fasten them to your garment. (Of course.)

You can also use these techniques on children’s clothes, home dec items . . . the list goes on.

Biased About Jackets

Saturday, April 10, 11AM-3 pm
$40, Vicki Braun

Who isn't biased about jackets?

But this is a special bias jacket. It's easy to fit without darts or other structured sewing elements. It's loose-fitting and comfortable, but it also gently follows the curves of the body.

You must know how to do a serged, machine or hand-rolled hem.

Swimwear That Fits – Really!

Wednesdays, 1-4 pm or 6-9 pm
April 14 & 21 (2 weeks)
$65, Nancy Scott

Can’t find a swimsuit that fits all your attributes?
Neither can anyone else, so join us!

Fact is, making your own swimwear has a lot of advantages. You can create your own style – with your favorite colors, accents and features.

In this sit-and-sew class, you'll learn the benefits of lycra and swimsuit elastic. And we'll cover fitting, swimwear, linings, elastic and swimsuit construction – including bras & tummy panels. (Not for extremely hard-to-fit bodies.)

Versatile Tee

Thursday, April 29, 6-9 pm
$30, Marty Meyer

Make a t-shirt with an interchangeable scarf.

The idea is, the scarf will coordinate with garments in your current wardrobe.

It's a nice way to look pulled-together when you're being casual, or want just a little more polish. And it's a nice way to take a tee from casual to dressy.
